PHILLY CONNECTION EXPANDS INTO NORTHERN VIRGINIA
WITH RESTAURANT IN CHANTILLY
ATLANTA, Nov. 20, 2006 -- Philly Connection has opened its first restaurant in northern Virginia, located in Chantilly at 4080 Airline Parkway in the West Plaza Shopping Center near Washington Dulles International Airport. Specializing in custom-made, authentic cheesesteak sandwiches, Philly Connection started in Philadelphia in 1984. The company, now based in Atlanta, has more than 110 restaurants in nine states. John Pollock, founder and senior vice president of Philly Connection, says the Chantilly restaurant marks the beginning of a planned expansion in northern Virginia and throughout the state.
"Virginia has strong growth potential for Philly Connection. With our first restaurant in Petersburg, our second now in Chantilly, and a third planned for Alexandria early next year, we hope our concept will catch on throughout the state as we continue to expand," Pollock said. "We hope the residents in Chantilly will come experience 'cheesesteak perfection' at Philly Connection."
Philly Connection offers many different cheesesteak sandwich options, with prices starting at $5.59. This fall, the company introduces "My Cheesesteak," a new menu offering that lets customers customize their sandwiches with grilled lean steak, choice of four cheeses and a variety of toppings including grilled onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, peppers, salsa, pizza sauce and pepperoni. The restaurants also feature The Original Cheesesteak Sandwich, with sizzling slices of lean, marinated steak, sweet onions and melted white American cheese, folded into a toasted hoagie roll. Other options include Plain Jane, Southwest Cheesesteak, Cheese Chicken, Pepperoni Pizza Steak, Mushroom Cheesesteak and The Works. All sandwiches are grilled fresh to order and served with large portions of meat, cheese and toppings. Combos (with small order of fries and medium drink) can be added to any order for $2.29.
The menu also has specialty hoagie sandwiches such as the Italiano, Turkey Hoagie and the Chipotle Turkey Club. Chicken sandwiches and chicken tenders are available as well. French fries, beer battered onion rings, breaded mozzarella cheesesticks, potato chips and Kosher pickles are offered as side items, and desserts include cheesecake and the popular TastykakesR products, which also originated in Philadelphia. The Kids Meal, which comes with sandwich, fries or chips and a drink, is $4.49.
