TONY ROMA’S RESTAUARNTS GOES TRANS FAT FREE.

DALLAS, TX.  April, 19, 2007.    Romacorp, Inc., parent company of Tony Roma’s, announced that it plans on pulling all trans fats from their menu by July 1, 2007.

Tony Roma’s, the world’s largest casual dining concept specializing in ribs, has already incorporated trans fat free oils and products into several of its corporate locations.  Romacorp has been testing trans fat free products for the past year in its test restaurants.

Marc Buehler, Chief Operating Officer at Romacorp, Inc., said that “It is our goal to offer the benefits of trans fat free products  while still providing our guests with the world famous Tony Roma’s food they have come to expect and deserve.  Our guests have told us that they want “smarter” choices when they are dining out and we intend on providing these options to them.”

Buehler went on to say that “We will have all of our corporate and a substantial portion of our franchise system transitioned into trans fat free products by July 1, 2007.  This initiative is a priority for us in 2007. We, as do many medical experts, believe that trans fats are a leading contributor to heart disease and the quicker that the casual dining sector as well as the foodservice industry as a whole gets behind this initiative, the better off we all will be.”

Romacorp, Inc. is the operator of Tony Roma’s restaurants, the world’s largest casual dining concept specializing in ribs.  Romacorp, Inc. currently operates 20 restaurants and through its subsidiary companies, franchises 200 restaurants in 26 states and 32 foreign countries and territories.  The first Tony Roma’s restaurant opened 35 years ago in North Miami, Florida, and today the concept includes restaurant operations that span 6 continents.
