National Cheesesteak day began on Thursday, March 24, 1994 when four high school students decided to celebrate their upcoming graduation by sharing cheesesteaks at a local Philadelphia restaurant known as Stoxy\u2019s.<\/p>\n

The Legendary Cheesesteak Sandwich<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cheesesteak sandwich was invented by Pat Olivieri, a South Philadelphia hot dog vendor, when one day in 1930 he decided to put some beef from the butcher on his grill. A taxicab driver was attracted to the smell and asked for his own steak sandwich. The next day, word had spread about the delicious sandwich, and cabbies around the city came to Olivieri ordering them.<\/p>\n

Authentic Philly cheesesteaks are made with thinly sliced steak and melted cheese wiz or American cheese on a long, crusty roll. Some are accompanied with onions.<\/p>\n

This Thursday, restaurants around the county will celebrate National Cheesesteak Day serving replicas of Olivieri\u2019s invention. If you want to venture out on Thursday and grab a cheesesteak, you can find them here:\"Check<\/a><\/p>\n
